Before the incident
Placing a chest tube
What happened
I was placing a chest tube in a patient for a large pneumothorax. As I was attempting to place the tube into the chest wall a larger incision was necessary in the process of removing my finger from the chest i clipped it on the scalpel creating a 2mm cut. I stepped away the procedure was taken over by my collegue I removed gloves and washed the site with water and soap for a period of time. OUCH line was called. Blood work was take according to plan.
