Before the incident
Pulling a patient up in the bed
What happened
Shortly after getting report from previous shift I was called by the nurse to come in room 316 to assist pulling her up in bed. I proceeded to the bedside and grabbed the chucks underneath the patient. The nurse was on the opposite side of the of the bed doing the same. We both counted to 3 and I proceeded to lift and slide towards the head of the bed. Well the patient did not move. Nurse says I 'm sorry I didn 't have enough of the pad to pull. I was shocked because why you have me count and lift if you are not ready. I wanted to tell her that I will never lift with her again but I did not. I do not know her and haven 't worked with her before. My back has begun to radiate with pain on my middle right side as I continue work my shift.
