Before the incident

EH filler was producing leaking cartons on both lanes that made it to downstream. Filler operator stopped and went downstream to inspect the leaking cartons and found tons of leaking cartons that were bad and had to be dumped. Filler operator started cutting cartons open using a scraper and after a few times of that was too slow. He pulled out his own personal knife to cut the cartons to continue the operations faster.

What happened

EH filler was producing leaking cartons on both lanes that made it to downstream. Filler operator stopped and went downstream to inspect the leaking cartons and found tons of leaking cartons that were bad and had to be dumped. Filler operator started cutting cartons open using a scraper and after a few times of that was too slow. He pulled out his own personal knife to cut the cartons to continue the operations faster. After cutting multiple cartons the operator struck his left index finger cutting through his standard glove. Operator was rushing trying to clean up the leakers as quickly as possible and was factor in the injury. 2 other operators were present at the time helping out with the leakers and once they noticed the filler operators finger had been cut they stopped and immediately escalated to the supervisor.
