Before the incident
Collecting service items during landing phase of flight.
What happened
Experienced unexpected severe turbulence while collecting trash prior to landing. Had not received any notification this from PIC. Had difficulty returning to aft cabin jump seat. As I reached the aft galley the severe turbulence threw me to the floor. I was unable to or get into my jump seat for 30 seconds to 1 min because of the severe turbulence. Finally got seated and belted in. Told FA 4 it was not necessary to contact lead prior to landing.
