Before the incident
Giving a subQ insulin injection in pt 's abdomen. Gloves were on. This RN stuck herself with used needle through glove while trying to engage the safety on insulin syringe after injection was administered.
What happened
Normal procedure followed for injection-alcohol wipe injection administered. While this RN was trying to engage the safe on the insulin syringe she poked herself through glove. RN bled through glove. RN immediately washed hands.
