Before the incident
On [REDACTED] a Radiographer was rotating a [REDACTED] 20483 when they pinched their right thumb between a casting feature and the back of the wheel or nut holding the wheel onto the fixture receiving a small cut below the middle knuckle and localized swelling. As they pulled up on the part the wheels felt a little stuck. They grabbed the feature with his fingers and thumb to get a firm grip on the part. While pulled up a little harder it broke loose causing their thumb to be pinched. The employee immediately sought first aid and then informed their supervisor of the incident. The supervisor assisted the employee in contacting WorkCare where the employee was advised to continue first aid and agreed. The employee was wearing cut-resistant leather gloves which were appropriate for the task being performed. The employee clocked out for first aid at the end of their shift. UPDATE: After several days of rest the employee still experienced significant pain and difficulty moving their finger.
