Before the incident
Preparing to administer TDAP vaccine to a patient.
What happened
I went into room 17 in the Emergency Department to administer a TDAP shot to a patient. The patient had on a long sleeve shirt and pulled down the shirt from the collar so I could administer the shot to their left upper arm. The shot was administered and as the needle was removed it slipped and pierced my left index finger. I went and washed my hands then I told CNC [REDACTED] what had happened. Appropriate forms were completed and blood was drawn on the patient and myself. I don 't have the patient information it is attached to the forms that were completed following the incident.
