Diagnosing a mechanical problem with transfer table on progressive trim saw.

While diagnosing a problem near the transfer table on the progressive trim saw a maintenance EE rested his right hand on the transfer table frame while it was in the upper position. The transfer table activated causing it to drop to the lower position. The result was that the 4th and 5th digits of the right hand were pinned between the frame on the transfer table and the angle iron frame on the conveyor track. This resulted in abrasions and fractures in the two impacted fingers
