Before the incident
The trimmer was running and team noticed a defect was beginning to occur which is corrected by changing the sanding belt. Employees shut down the machine to gain access to the sander. Employee properly entered the machine and used the correct method in place to secure the cover of the sander to change the belt.
What happened
While swapping out the sander belt the employee bumped the cover (sander unit lid) and the bungee released from the handle on the cover. The result was a laceration to the right middle finger tip when the lid fell on his hand.
