Before the incident
holding patient arm and strained left shoulder
What happened
I was holding the patient 's arm with my left hand while sterile prepping the patient 's arm. I turned to grab another prep stick when I felt and heard my left shoulder pop and drop slightly. Sharp pain followed in my left shoulder. I lowered the patient 's arm safely back to the hand table and pulled my left shoulder back up into place and felt another small pop. The pain decreased after the second pop. I immediately found another nurse to take over my room for me and notified my manager.
