Before the incident
Grinding
What happened
Employee was grinding an overhead weld out in order to rework the underside of a cab. Upon grinding with all of his proper PPE on (face shield safety glasses gloves and ear plugs) aluminum debris fell between the gap of his grinding hood and safety glasses. Team member believes a piece of metal contacted his eye as he immediately felt irritation. The employee immediately notified leadership and the group lead directed him towards the emergency eye wash station. At that time it was determined to take team member to urgent care for further evaluation. Team member was given prescription antibiotics and eye drops for corneal abrasion and referred to opthamology for follow up appointment restrictions of no work until specialist follow up.
