Employee and a co-worker were removing ties from rebar. They encountered ties that would not come out and used a #6 rebar bar and sledgehammer to remove them. The injured employee was holding the rebar in place while his co-worker struck it with the sledgehammer.

While the injured employee was repositioning himself and the rebar the co-worker swung the sledgehammer and struck the employee 's right hand hitting his middle and index fingers.
