Before the incident
AHG Woodbury Clinic LPN reports BBF to left thumb on [REDACTED] in patient exam room in family medicine area. Reports had given vaccination to patient and as activating safety mechanism by pushing with left thumb (orange cap that snaps into place) scratched left thumb. Reports did not realize had penetrated skin until gloves removed and saw blood on left thumb. RK report: Employee gave injection ([REDACTED]) to patient. When attempting to snap safety device onto needle needle slid into left (gloved) thumb and scratched the surface of the thumb Employee did not realize this until removing his glove and noticed blood. Patient had already left. Employee did attempt to contact Occ Health but no answer and no option to leave message. He will call again in the AM. Current clinics BBF Packet filled out by employee and CSS.
