Before the incident

RFAH Medical Surgical Unit RN sustained mid-upper cervical and shoulder sprain strain. The EE had gone into pt room 102 dementia pt who was hard to direct. While helping reposition in bed and the pt was resistive and pushed back on EE the EE felt pain in the mid back. The EE then entered into pt room 112 for a complex wound care. The pt refused to allow EE and wound nurse EE to use the limp lifting device as pt had a prior injury. The wound care took 1 hours to complete with lifting holding and awkward positioning. The EE needed to step out of the room for short breaks to stretch with pain in the middle back shoulder neck and upper back.
