What happened
On [REDACTED] at approximately [REDACTED] a SMX employee reported to the EHS office complaining of pain in their right thumb and an inability to work. The contingent employee stated that the pain began sometime during the week of [REDACTED] but did not report it immediately believing the pain to be minimal. They continued working in their normal role; however the pain progressively worsened prompting them to report the injury. The employee believes the pain resulted from overuse of their hand while folding boxes in the C-hinge department. The employee was treated with ice therapy over-the-counter ibuprofen a compression glove and topical [REDACTED] [REDACTED]. After treatment the employee reported some improvement. The EHS team advised the employee to return to the First Aid office if the pain persisted or worsened and the employee agreed. The employee then returned to their regular duties and completed the remainder of the shift without further visits to First Aid.
