Before the incident
The employee had gone to the end of the line to do a sheet count and came back to write this down on his paperwork. He stated he smelled smoke and turned and saw some plastic was on fire. He said he turned off the emboss heaters and was going to lower the bottom heaters.
What happened
The employee stated when he lowered the bottom heaters he got his finger caught between the heater frame and a metal plate under the emboss rolls. This resulted in a laceration to the top and bottom of his right index finger. He received 9 stitches for the laceration.
