Before the incident
On [REDACTED] at [REDACTED] a recordable injury occurred in the [REDACTED] An operator (DOH: 52714) was working at the GallonVac and attempted to pick up an empty pallet As the edge of the pallet made contact with the operators left leg a piece of wood punctured the skin The operator was unaware and continued working [REDACTED] they observed a small abrasion on the leg outer shin area After noting the incident to the Unit Manager the operator was brought to the EHS Managers office for First Aid application It was here that the splinter was found and much larger than anticipated Axiom was contacted and recommended medical assistance for removal of the splinter under the skin The operator was evaluated at the local Occ Health clinic and 2 15 pieces of wooden splinters were removed from under the skin of the operators left shin area While not given any restrictions they were prescribed antibiotics due to the foreign body puncturing the skin There were no further injuries nor missed workin
