Employee was building bumper parts in bumper area.

What happened

Employee was moving the parts rack forward to make room for the forklift driver to access an empty parts bin. As she was moving the parts rack two (2) reinforcement parts fell from the top shelf of the parts rack and struck her left thumb and then fell onto the floor. Her thumb was contused and swollen. She was given first aid with ice and ibuprofen. It was that the recommended to the employee to go home and rest and ice her finger but she insisted upon staying to work. She stated that her injury was a pain level 2 out of 10 and she was able to work. She was allowed to stay but perform 6S task instead of her normal work so her injury could be monitored. She worked the entirety of her shift. She was instructed to call the next day prior to reporting to work to provide an update her injury. She contacted EHS and stated that her bruising had improved but her finger was still swollen. She reported a 1 out of 10 pain level.
