Before the incident
Operator was unloading the coater machine. They hung one bar on the coater racks with no issue. The process involves a bar holding parts with hooks on either end to run through the coater. After the cycle is complete it is moved to a rack where the parts cool down. He then tried to load another one above it like he is supposed to but the bar misaligned with the rack.
What happened
The bar he was loading on to the rack swung down toward the operator 's hand as one of the hooks did not catch the rack. It pinched his finger for a split second before he pulled away.
Injury or illness
Finger pinch
Object or substance involved
The way the bars hook on to the rack leaves little space for error. The bar dropping from it not being hung properly led to the finger pinch.
