Employee was attempting to cut a zip tie with a spring loaded retractable box cutter Zip tie was placed on a step stool and employee was attempting to remove the tags that came with it Stool was on a cart that was firm in its position Employee was attempting to remove zip tie with right hand not wearing gloves and using force the box cutter did not cut the zip tie snagged and then with the force from attempting to remove box cutter made impact to left hand Left was placed not directly in line with zip tie being cut initially but as zip tie was not coming loose left hand was moved to in the way to create more leverage and force to break the zip tie When the zip tie snagged it then came free from it and made impact with the left hand lacerating in between thumb and pointer finger
