While stepping off the first edge of the top step

During cleanup on [REDACTED] was using the degreaser to clean equipment when they received a radio call around [REDACTED] to reset a breaker to outlet along the wall. EE walked onto the mezzanine metal steps over the conveyors. While stepping off the first edge of the top step he lost his footing. He attempted to stop the fall by grabbing the railing which caused his right shoulder to elevate while his body continued downward creating a twisting motion in his back. This resulted in pain in his right shoulder blade area.
