What happened
Laceration to cheek under the right eye. Maintenance technician was attempting to lift the metal platform off to access the lower part of the machine. In doing so the beam clamp slipped from the hoist sling causing the metal plate to strike the employee below his right eye. This caused a laceration (requiring four sutures to close) and a fracture to the facial cheek bone (no surgery required).
