Before the incident
attempting to place IV
What happened
Pt was refusing IV placement security and extra staff were called to bedside. I attempted to start an IV after I poked the pt with the IV starter kit the pt began moving his arm around. The IV came out of pts arm and he was moving around while the used sharp was exposed. After this I noticed redness and discomfort to my R ring finger. I am unsure if I was poked with the used needle or scratched by the pt or a staff trying to help in the situation.
