Outpatient occupational therapy

I brought the patient into therapy room. Patient is a nonverbal AAC device user. I was standing next to the patient by a counter and storage cabinets. She pointed to Play-Doh in the upper cabinets to indicate she wanted to play with it. I told her "Let 's practice asking for that on your device first before I we play with it" and reached for her AAC device to attempt to model making a request for Play-Doh on it. When I reached for the device she appeared to get frustrated and grabbed my arm and bit down on it breaking the skin and leaving a bruise. I told her "No do not bite me. That 's not nice. It hurt me" and redirected her to a different task.
