What happened
I started noticing pain in my left thumb while doing routine patient care. I didn 't pay attention to it as work needed to be done. Over the next few shifts and days the use of my left hand was significantly reduced due to the excruciating pain I felt while performing routine functions. I started guarding the thumb and have become conscious of how I 'm using my hand. When I try to grip tear hold lift twist or pull anything I have to stop because of the pain and readjust how I performed simple routine functions at work home. I have since purchased a splint to immobilize the thumb.
