Waiting on coil to be loaded

While preparing to start a new production run the IE was in the process of loading a coil onto the decoiler. During this process it was observed that the coil banding had two clips one of which was lodged between the coil and the snubber. The IE attempted to remove the clip and banding from the coil. As the IE reached toward the banding the operator began moving the coil. This action resulted in the IE 's left hand being caught between the snubber and the coil causing crushing injuries to the tips of the second and third fingers. The IE sustained fractures to both fingertips and received two stitches per fingertip. The IE will contact and schedule a follow-up appointment with an orthopedic hand specialist to assess the extent of the injuries and determine if any further treatment is necessary. IE visited Hand Specialist 9 5 25 and will have a follow up with orthopedic surgeon to verify if there are any damages beyond initial diagnosis.
