Before the incident
Employee was hanging housing racks onto the horizontal hoist bar
What happened
Immediately prior to the incident the employee had placed hung a load rack (with parts) onto the horizontal bar of the staging rack (load side of Hoist Line). After placing another load rack on the bench the employee observed that the load rack that he had just hung began teetering on the horizontal (hoist) bar. The rack fell off of the bar onto bench and began to fall to the floor. The employee instinctively grabbed the load rack with his right hand. The employee reported that he felt one of the pointed metal prongs from the load rack contact and pierce his right thumb.
