Before the incident
The employee was hand polishing a rose.
What happened
Immediately prior to the incident the employee was hand polishing a rose. The rose was situated on a polishing jig. The employee was using two hands to position the rose onto the polishing wheel. During the activity the rose came off of the jig and was propelled forward. The rose bounced off of the safety cage and propelled back towards the operator. The edge of the rose contacted the top of the right index finger. The contact produced a cut. The cut required three (3) stitches
