What happened
A [REDACTED] was tasked with removing and installing a belt and sheave on [REDACTED] in the [REDACTED] [REDACTED] Unit. After completing the task and reinstalled the bottom guard the employee noticed the belt was sitting flush against the lip of the larger gear. To prevent damage from unnecessary friction the employee placed his right hand on the belt to rotate it intending to guide the belt away from the lip. Simultaneously his left hand was resting near the smaller gear and his left middle and index fingers were pinched between the rotating sheave and belt. Investigation on going.
