Repairing a Heat Treat Furnace.

At approximately [REDACTED] a maintenance technician was working to repair Furnace #4 in the Heat Treat Department. While inside the furnace making the repair the air cylinders actuated causing the elevator inside the furnace to move upward. This trapped the employee against the roof of the furnace until another maintenance employee was able to initiate an air release. The employee was then removed from the furnace and taken by EMS to the hospital to seek emergency medical care.

Multiple chest and hip fractures and other serious internal injuries.

Furnace Elevator.

EE was performing repair to furnace track when the elevator platform inside the furnace actuated and entrapped him against the ceiling of the furnace. EE has multiple fractures to ribs and pelvis one punctured lung.
