Before the incident
employee was using a skill saw to cut the edge of a panel.
What happened
The employee held the bottom section of the panel with his right hand while operating the saw with his left hand. During the cutting process the employee manually retracted the blade guard and placed his right hand under the lip of the panel edge before engaging the saw 's trigger. The employee was wearing gloves at the time which contributed to his hand being pulled into the saw.
Injury or illness
As a result he sustained a partial amputation of his right thumb a laceration to his index finger and a fractured pinky finger.
