What happened
EE while making the 3 8 X 10 wire rope sling was using a home made air vice to position the wire rope for fabrication and actuated the air vice while their right index finger was in the line of fire causing a compound fracture. Employees hands were placing the sling into the air vice to hold it while they make the turn in the rigging while the employee was engaging the button to lower the jaw of the device to make the clamp their hand was in the line of fire.
