What happened
Shortly after admission to unit patient was bed. When i assessed her IV site it was leaking from fluids ordered. I did three attempts for a new IV site with no success. When I was picking up the supplies I used one of the IV catheters with the needle in it poked my right hand between my pinky and ring finger. I removed my gloves and noticed a small amount of blood. I washed my hands with soap and water and notified my charge nurse.
