What happened

Elevator malfunction- fell from the 6th floor to the 5th floor. As I entered the elevator on the 6th floor and pushed the button for 4. the elevator doors closed and then the elevator fell. coming to a halting stop on the 5th floor. I immediately felt back pain but was so shocked that I continued to press buttons to try and hurry to exit the elevator. The doors would not open. so I began pushing the button for help and the operator. In the meantime. I kept hitting the open button. in which the doors finally did. When they opened there was a nursing student instructor and nursing students who met me at the elevator because they reported that the heard the elevator fall and come to a screeching stop while they were sitting at the 5S nurse station. I did let the operator know what happened in the meantime and she was dispatching help to elevator. I took the steps back to the 6th floor to gather my belongings and went to the ED for follow up care.
