Assisting the machine operator with a film change

While assisting the machine operator with a film change the employee gave the operator the all-clear to begin lowering the film into the metal holding bar. During this process the employees finger was inadvertently positioned in the path of the descending bar. As the film was lowered into place her finger became caught between the film and the holding bar resulting in a crushing injury. The employee is unsure exactly how her finger ended up in that position as she believed her hands were clear at the time she signaled to proceed. The following tasks loading the chili bagger with plastic film were being completed.
