pulling out needle to get blood gases on placenta cord

We were in the OR for delivery of twins placenta was delivered and there is short window to get blood gases on placenta cord. I had pulled needle out to get blood gases on placenta cord and the needle popped back and punctured my glove and then my L thumb. The needle was clean but my glove was dirty needle punctured glove and then the skin on my L thumb.
