Before the incident
The injured employee was assisting in the unloading a bundle of ¼ x 3” x 20’ flat bar. The bundle was being transported approximately 150 feet to storage area #7 the injured employee was walking alongside the Telehandler as a spotter ground person to unhook the bundle.
What happened
Approximately 80+ feet from the desired location the injured employee working as a spotter ground person moved from the left side of the JLG Telehandler towards the right side without communicating or making eye contact with the equipment operator. The injured employee stepped directly in the path of travel causing his right ankle foot to be struck by the left front telehandler tire.
