Before the incident
Employee was tasked with cutting a section of insulation off of a jumper using a (snap-off blade) utility knife.
What happened
While cutting into the insulation the employee had to firmly push down with his right hand on top of the knife and his left hand underneath the knife which provided support and also used as a guide to be able to penetrate the thick insulation on the jumper. As the employee was cutting in a horizontal motion a piece of the snap-off blade broke off causing the knife to slide towards his hand (left) that was underneath the blade cut through his glove and cause a laceration on his palm.
