Before the incident
Employee was cutting labels on an anvil type paper cutter to be put into groups of 100 from a roll of 500 While pulling over another label to be cut up the employee lifted their hand and grazed the blade of the paper cutter with the top of the right middle finger and also nicked her right ring finger The blade sliced the finger open about 15 inches in length along the top of the middle finger The ring finger had about 05 inch laceration that was not deep enough for stitches Supervisor who is trained in first aid immediately tried to slowstop the bleeding by giving paper towels to employee to put pressure on the laceration Supervisor then called EHS Manager for assistance We then brought employee up to bathroom to wash out the laceration under cold water and used some wound seal to attempt to stop the bleeding again with pressure from gauze The bleeding continued through the wound seal and at that point we made the decision to take to clinic as it had not stopped after about 7 minutes E
