What happened
Pt went into VTACH and we needed to return blood back from [REDACTED] machine back to the pt. A coworker helped me with it. The [REDACTED] was on recirculation mode and there was some blood mixed in the saline bag. When I was about to restart the [REDACTED] I was spiking a new saline bag to replace the old bag contaminated w blood when i was trying to connect the new bag I poke myself with the sharp [REDACTED] spike that connects to the saline bag. I discarded the saline bag and cleaned the spike with CHG impregnated wipes. I washed my hands with soap and water after.
