Employee was unloading and stacking steel planks.

While unloading and placing a long plank of steel (grain bin floor plank) into a stack as part of a team lift the plank shifted as a result of the opposite end being released and caught the finger between the plank that was being held onto and the one next to it.

Left middle finger sustained pinch. No broken skin was present at time of injury. The finger was monitored and cared for. Approximately 4 weeks after the initial injury the finger began to show signs of swelling redness and pain around the nail. Employee was taken to clinic where he was prescribed antibiotics.
