What happened

the patient wanted to stand at the side of the bed. I requested help from another aide who did come in and we used the proper gear to attempt to stand him. We applied the gait belt to him turned him and slid him to the side of the bed. The aide is also a PT aide and she stated that she had gotten him up [REDACTED] and ambulated him around in his room. We used the sara steady and assisted him to attempt to stand. It was a difficult process. Once standing the patient said he could not do it a nd started to slump down and not support any of his weight. I held the patient with the gait belt with my right arm at his abdomen. He slumped his entire upper body weight on my right arm and I could not get it out. We called a staff assist to help us get the patient back to bed. This situation resulted in right shoulder injury which is also aggravation re-injury from previous work related right shoulder injury.
