Handling sharps wires instruments

I was getting my patient ready to get up to the chair with 2 PCAs. We were fastening the patient 's 3 drains to the gown with a safety pin (standard practice prior to moving a patient to ensure drains do not get pulled). The three of us had our hands close together working on doing this and I happened to get poked with the safety pin. The pin did NOT poke the patient however these drains have some scant dry blood on them and there is dry blood at the site. Due to this I decided that there was a very sma ll chance that the pin had come into contact with dry blood. After the patient was settled I took off my glove and noted that there was a very small hole in the fingertip where the incident occurred. I reported the incident to my charge nurse and my supe rvisor.
