What happened
After dialysis treatment RN attempted to transfer the patient to the transport cart with the use of a gait belt. Patient stood with moderate assistance from RN RN had two hands on patient 's gait belt for the entire transfer. When attempting to take a step to the cart patient 's right knee buckled and patient said I 'm going down I 'm going down. Patient 's right leg gave out and patient was suddenly bearing no weight and RN was able to use his strength to catch the patient under his arms and lift hi m back into his chair. RN felt a sudden pull in back muscles and pain developed soon after. Patient had no injury.
