Before the incident
Helping reposition a patient that was in labor that had fetal heart rate decelerations that required frequent repositioning.
What happened
the patient was larger and she had to roll the patient back and forth to both sides and up and down on the bed. The patient was epiduralized so requested assistance in the room via Vocera but due to the dire situation with the decreasing fetal heart rate she had to do repositioning by herself. During the repositioning she felt an instant pop in her lower middle right back and sharp shooting pain. She states that she had to continue repositioning the patient due to the unchanged condition of the fetal heart rate which furthered the back injury through different patient position changes.
