What happened

Employee was wearing gloves while providing a customer a flu shot immunization in the right arm (closest to a fridge that is in the room). Due to the narrow space between the customer and the sharps container for used needles employee was trying to cap the used needle while reaching for the sharps container when the used needle poked her left thumb. Employee looked down and recognized she poked herself and didn 't see anything so finished up with the patient. Employee did not mention to the customer at that time that she was poked by the used needle. However after customer left employee then noticed she had blood in her glove. By that point the patient had walked out of the room so employee went to pharmacist on staff to report the incident. pharmacist had employee wash her hands while other pharmacist called manager on duty . manager directed employee to HR for further instruction.
