On [REDACTED] an employee was having trouble opening the 4 BFWP Valve Prior to calling maintenance the operator attempted to free the valve using a 24 Pipe Wrench and roughly threefoot pipe for leverage and was not able to get the valve free Maintenance was contacted for support and a shift mechanic responded The shift mechanic connected a set of channel locks to the chain and attempted to use both hands to pull down and close the valve After pulling down on twice the mechanic felt discomfort in their left shoulder At that time the mechanic did not report to medical to be evaluated thinking it was slight soreness that would go away The following day the mechanics shoulder pain increased and contacted their supervisor to inform him he wanted to follow up with the nurse on the next shift
