Fitting a 2 spool piece to valve

A pipefitter and welder were working together to fit up and weld a 13ft X 2 spool piece. After tacking the second valve onto the spool piece in the vertical position to 2 hole the valve correctly.. The welder asked the Fitter to grab a jack stand and to rotate the spool piece 90*degree 's to get the spool piece in a better position to weld. The fitter turned around to grab an extra jack stand. As the fitter turned back around and put the jack stand into position the spool piece that they were getting ready to reposition fell and pinned the fitters Left thumb inbetween the valve handle and jack stand top.
