Assisting lab tech with vein puncture
What happened
I was assisting the lab tech with a specimen collection. When she attempted to unscrew the syringe from the line to connect another syringe the patient 's blood was continuing from the line and it went down my gloves. When attempting to connect the second syringe the 23G needle dislodged from the patient 's hand and I went to stop the bleeding and the needle stuck my right ring finger.
