Before the incident
Employee was trying to use a shelf cage
What happened
Employee was attempting to use a self-cage; the parts that pulls out of the top shelf and latch was stuck so I attempted to help her. I pushed it in as far as it would go then lifted it up. I was just going to latch it up in the normal position so she could still use it. As soon as I got it up; the slide part slammed down on my hand causing the tip of my ring and pinky finger on my left-hand. I went straight to Supervisor and reported the incident.
